Have You Knitted Yours?

The Royal Wedding

Only two days to go (eek!) until the Royal Wedding on Friday so we are all getting very excited! With over one million expected to descend on London to watch the happy couple many of us will be saying ‘I do’ to a wedding street party….

So how are your decorations coming along? If you are in need of a little inspiration we have the perfect Royal Wedding party pack for the children to get cutting and sticking with! At the beginning of February we promised you no commemorative china and tea towels! Instead we created the Woolly Windsors – our knitted Wills & Kate – to celebrate the Royal Wedding, but also to launch our new Knit-a-Friend kit.

Well, we have had some fantastic knitted Royal Couples sent in – so a BIG Thank You to all those who joined in the celebrations by making the fabulous dolls. If you still fancy having a go you can! Just download the pattern of the James Galt Royal
Couple from www.galttoys.com.

Show us your knits!

With an estimated TV audience of three billion (40% of the world’s population!) I’m sure there are many who could ‘knit one, pearl one’ while watching the ceremony on telly – With this stitch I thee wed…

Don’t forget our Art & Craft experts have also created a Cute Corgi for you and your kids to make too. Wouldn’t he be just the perfect addition to celebrate the Royal Wedding?

Whatever you are doing this Friday, street party or family gathering, we would love to hear about it – please do share with us…

Enjoy your Royal Wedding party!

Are you ready to party?

Whether or not you are a Royal fan, the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton is a great excuse to have a street party with all your neighbours and have some fun, plus with the majority of streets being clear of traffic, it is a great time for kids to play freely and safely!

Street parties are one of the great British traditions when it comes to celebrating the Royals or national events; it is simply the best way to bring people together, but to be true to the term ‘street party’ it has to be organised by residents for residents.

So what do you need when you are having a party? Decorations and, what’s practically compulsory at a British street party, bunting! In true Galt Style we have got our designer on the case so the kids can get involved with all the Royal Wedding shenanigans.

Simply download our Royal Wedding party pack containing bunting, flags and paper chains for FREE via our Activity Zone and follow the instructions.

With only 22 days to go until they tie the knot, we have also launched Part 2 of the Wedding Scrapbook so your little ones can keep reporting on the progress of the Royal Wedding. Once again you will find all you need in our Activity Zone.

As you’ll see from the photo, our local Brownies Group, the 3rd Cheadle pack, got very busy yesterday with their Royal Wedding scrapbooks and party packs.

If you are planning a street party, or having a go at making our decorations or perhaps your own we would love to see the end result – please upload your Royal Wedding photos on our Facebook page.

Prince William and Kate Middleton have created a charitable gift fund to help celebrate their wedding. The fund focuses on assisting charities which support causes close to their hearts. Having been touched by the goodwill shown to them since their engagement, they
have asked that anyone wishing to send them a wedding gift, consider doing so
in the form of a donation to the fund. www.royalweddingcharityfund.org

How much is that doggie….?

To get us even more excited about the Royal Wedding and to celebrate Crufts (10th – 13th March) our Art & Craft experts have created a Designer Doggie for you and your kids to make. And yes, you’ve guessed it – it’s a Corgi!

Simply download the pattern for FREE via our Activity Zone and follow the instructions.

Even if you’re more of a cat lover…it’s nearly impossible not to be moved by the type of loyalty unique to dogs. They are trained to care for and protect vulnerable people, assist the police and our soldiers. They rightly deserve the title ‘Man’s best friend’.

Theo, the bomb-sniffing Springer Spaniel, apparently died of a broken heart when his handler, Lance Corporal Liam Tasker was killed in Afghanistan.  Dogs have helped save lives in the aftermath of the Haiti earthquake and the 7/7 London bombings, so It is hard not find them irresistible.

This year Crufts is celebrating 120 years and according to their website, if stood nose to tail, the 21,500 dogs would stretch from the Greenwich Observatory in London down to Hampton Court Palace!

So what about Celebrity Paws –  we have Hooch from the film Turner and Hooch, Toto in The Wizard of Oz and Beethoven, who is perhaps the most famous for drinking out of fishbowls and urinating in George’s briefcase!! How many more can you name?

The world’s most famous corgis are owned by Her Majesty The Queen. Corgis have been royal pets since 1933, and just recently have been featured in the award winning film, The King’s Speech.

The price of a corgi can range from £400 to £1000….but with Galt Toys you can have one for free!

Come on…create a Corgi with us!
