Merry Christmas

Well it has been an exciting year for us; we’ve launched our new website www.galttoys.com, our Wooly Windsors’, were joined by real life Wills and Kate look-a-likes to launch our new Knit a Friend kit at Toy Fair; We went on the search for the Face of Galt looking for four children to make up our very own Galt Team - the next Professor Galt, Leonardo DiGaltici, Princess Galt and Baby Galt (winners will be announced in Jan 2012) and we have exciting products coming out in 2012 – so watch this space!

If you and your kiddies want to get creative over the Christmas break, while waiting for that jolly fellow in red to come down the chimney, we have some fantastic Christmas crafty make and dos for you!

Salt Dough DecorationsGet ready for Christmas by making these sparkly decorations! This is a wonderful craft activity for all the family to get into the Christmas spirit. Put on the Christmas music and an apron and get making your own unique decorations! Mix salt, flour and water together to make the dough, cut out your decorations using the templates provided and leave to dry. Finish by painting and decorating them with glitter and sequins. Knit a Reindeer – Put a smile on everyone’s face at Christmas with our fun knitted reindeer. He will be a perfect addition to your Christmas decorations or a delightful festive gift. Simply download the step by step guide from the Activity Zone and knit the simple shapes, fill with stuffing and sew together. Add felt antlers and a red nose to complete your little Rudolph. To make your reindeer, you need to be able to cast on, cast off, increase, decrease, work garter and stocking stitch.

Christmas Stocking Decorations – Our mini make and do stockings are perfect for decorating the Christmas tree, fireplace or for holding small gifts. You can use the fabrics we have suggested or fabrics that suit your own Christmas display. Be creative and decorate your stockings with sequins, ribbons and glitter. The Royal Wedding

Only two days to go (eek!) until the Royal Wedding on Friday so we are all getting very excited! With over one million expected to descend on London to watch the happy couple many of us will be saying ‘I do’ to a wedding street party….

Royal Wedding fever has gripped the nation and predictably, as night follows day, so has a variety of merchandise to mark the occasion.

Naturally, the Galt Team will be celebrating the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton, but we won’t be building up a stock of commemorative china and tea towels!   Oh no, we will be creating the Woolly Windsors.

Yes, you have guessed it – we have knitted Wills & Kate, not only to celebrate the Royal Wedding on the 29th April, but to launch our new Knit a Friend kit.

The Knitted Royal Couple made their first public appearance at Toy Fair on Tuesday 25th January, 2011.  Hand knitted by Lucy in our product design team, these 30cm high figures were joined by ‘real life’ Kate Middleton and Prince William look-a-likes, Kate Bevan and Andy Walker, on the James Galt stand at the UK toy industry’s annual trade showcase in London.

Apparently, Peter Andre has received an invite to this wedding of the year – so if you’d rather knit a pop star, or any other invitees, we’re more than happy to showcase other knitted wedding guests on Facebook.

A Heads Up for Half Term…

This half-term do keep a look-out on the James Galt website for more Royal Wedding ‘Make and Dos’.   We will be putting in the site’s Activity Zone a make-your-own wedding party with bunting and flags and helping you put together a memory scrapbook – a wonderful keepsake – and great fun for the kids!
