February has long been celebrated as the month of romance, so with Valentine’s Day just around the corner we thought we’d write about ‘Baby Love’ - that magical bond which makes a parent want to shower their baby with love and affection to protect and nurture at every waking moment.
This strong bond is the baby’s first experience of an intimate relationship which fosters a sense of security and positive self-esteem. A parent’s responsiveness to a baby’s signals, whether it is movement or sound, can affect the
child’s social and cognitive development.
Dr Miriam Stoppard, who has just launched a new baby range – Dr Miriam @ Galt, highlights the importance of play: “I’m a firm believer that parents are the best first teacher for their child and I can’t overemphasis the importance of play between a parent and their child. It is the most beneficial way for a baby to learn and develop. If you play with your baby and show them how to do things, explain what’s happening and support every small achievement, you’ll encourage the development of really important physical, intellectual, manual, language and social skills.”
For many years child development experts have stated that a baby’s happiness isn’t something you can give a child like a wrapped present, it is the bond between you and your child, making interaction a key element…..
At Galt we love the sound of happy babies and toddlers, and to lend a hand this Valentine’s Day we are giving away one Playnest®.
Our unique, award winning Playnest® is a self-contained play environment for babies and toddlers. The triangular fabric
covered inflatable ring provides additional sideways support for baby during rest and play. Around the Playnest there are 8 multi-sensory features to stimulate touch, vision and hearing – providing the early experience and interaction a baby needs.
