Summer Holidays are here…

So it’s that time of year again, we’re a week in and the summer holidays are in full swing. Children everywhere are running wild with excitement while parents are wondering how on earth to keep them entertained for the next six weeks.  So far you’ve been to the seaside, paid a visit to grandma and had a few play dates with other mums and children in the park…and now you’re wondering what to do next?

Well here at Galt Toys we have plenty of creative and engaging activities to keep your little ones out of trouble, entertained and their brains ticking over until they go back to school.  We can’t promise they won’t get a bit messy – but here’s just a few of our favourites to keep boys, girls and grownups amused this summer.

Create your own friendship bracelets – children just love them! Our cool charm bracelet kit is perfect for sharing with friends, with its cool coloured beads and silver charms featuring a poodle, strawberry and mobile phone it will undoubtedly add a little sparkle this summer.

NEW JAWBones

If you children love construction, this is the toy for you – Jaw Bones the 100 piece box set comes with a 20 page ideas booklet for loads of building inspiration and will keep the kiddies entertained for hours. The Buildable Art System with construction pieces that swivel, ratchet and snap together in countless ways. The possibilities for new and unique creations are limited only by the imagination. (Hard hat optional)

Everybody loves a tea party – why not create your own mad hatters version for an afternoon treat? -   You’ll have to paint the tea set  first though! You can get creative in the morning and go as bonkers as you like with the decoration – dot, strips and swirls. Then enjoy your efforts with an afternoon tea party.  (Cake is definitely not optional!)

Horrible Science

To keep those little brains engaged, our Horrible Science kits will provide hours of adventure for inquisitive minds and depending on which one you choose, they will be moulding slimy slugs, making water fuelled rockets and bouncing eyeballs in the garden and that’s just for starters.

Here is one for the whole family – pick your favourite bug or animal from our new grow-a-heads range then keep them fed and watered to see who’s can grow the longest hair over the summer. The fun never stops as once you’ve created wacky hair dos for your heads, give then a crew-cut and watch them grow all over again!

If after all this the little ones are still not tired, get them running around the garden in sync with the Olympics – they’ll be pooped and ready for bed in no time! As always, we’d love for you to share your Galt moments with us by uploading pictures to our facebook page or tweet us at @GaltToys.

Happy Playing!

Paws for thought….Make your own pet Pooch.

With Beethoven, Lassie, 101 Dalmatians, Lady and the Tramp, Snoopy, Pluto and Goofy – we have our fair share of loveable doggy characters that we hold close to our childhood hearts and as a nation we seem to have a soft spot for man’s best friend.

The most recent pup to take the country by storm is Pudsey – a Bichon Frise-Border Collie-Chinese Crested powder puff - a super talented six year old dog who can dance, perform and entertain thousands of people.  Since winning Britain’s got Talent, Pudsey’s owner Ashleigh reports that her pet pooch has developed a taste for expensive steaks, travels in a private jet and chauffeur driven limousines!  This got us wondering if any of you have a spoilt Shih-Tzu, a lovable lab, or a pampered poodle?

Sock Dog Kit

If you don’t have your own pet pooch, we have a faithful friend waiting for you! Our Art and Craft experts have been busy with some ’make and dos’ to keep you and your little ones entertained this summer. Our cool Sock Dog will undoubtedly become a loveable friend with its cute rainbow ears and purple eye patch. If you’d prefer to walk with royalty, you can create your very own charming Corgi - just download our FREE pattern via the Activity Zone and get stitching. Both designer doggies are great fun and easy to make and you can get even more creative by adding wacky buttons for a nose and eyes or even a glittery diamante collar!

Corgi Dog

We’d love to hear all about your animals too, please share your funny pet pictures by uploading them to our facebook page or tweet us at @GaltToys. We’re already looking forward to oo-ing and ahh-ing at their cute fluffy faces and your homemade creations.

MARBLES ON THE RUN – GALT TOYS TEAMS UP WITH PLAY FEST

Galt Toys will be hosting two Play Fest parties on Twitter and Facebook next week, in association with IzziWizzi Kids, to give parents the opportunity to review and feedback on one of Galt’s most popular toys Marble Run, before a new product launch later this year.

IzzyWizzy on facebook

Play Fest, a weekly event on Twitter and Facebook is specifically designed by, and for, UK parents and families and provides a place where individuals can gather and influence toy products, brands and all aspects of play. The Play Fest is a brainchild of mum of two Al Boxall-Gordon who could see opportunities to create a play community and work with this group to understand what makes them tick from their everyday family life. This unique insight makes it a useful tool for brands looking to communicate with parents and families in real time.

Al Boxall-Gordon, Founder of Izziwizzi Kids Play Fest, said: “Play Fest has become successful by listening to the needs of families who take part as well as the needs of toy brands who get involved.  Families are really excited to have the opportunity for two way dialogue with brands.”

John McDonnell, Managing Director at Galt Toys, added: “The Play Fest party is a great way for parents to give instant feedback direct to us and other parents which is especially useful before the launch of our new Marble Run. We welcome receiving valuable views from parents and hearing their suggestions and ideas.”

Galt’s Play Fest party will be taking place on Twitter – Tuesday 24th July 8.30-10pm, follow the hash tag #PlayFest and on Facebook, Thursday 26th July 8.30-10pm on the Izziwizzi Kids Facebook Fan page http://www.facebook.com/izziwizzikids
